Teaching
The day I stood up in front of more than 200 members of an indigenous community in Colombia to talk about deep-water oil exploration was the first time I realized that I wanted to teach. At the end of my talk, community leaders said, “Thank you, teacher, that was such a complex topic, and you made it very easy for us.” From that day on, I understood that my passion for change and social justice is best honored through a combination of research and teaching.
